ESA/Hubble News 13 October 2011 13 October 2011 — ESA/Hubble Photo Release heic1115 Hubble Survey Carries Out a Dark Matter Census

The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has been used to make an image of galaxy cluster MACS J1206.2-0847. The apparently distorted shapes of distant galaxies in the background is caused by an invisible substance called dark matter, whose gravity bends and distorts their light rays. MACS 1206 has been observed as part of a new survey of galaxy clusters using Hubble. Hubble’s famous images of galaxies typically show elegant spirals or soft-edged ellipses. But these neat forms are only representative of large galaxies. Smaller galaxies like the dwarf irregular galaxy Holmberg II come in many shapes and types that are harder to classify. This galaxy’s indistinct shape is punctuated by huge glowing bubbles of gas, captured in this image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.

ইকোলাই । ইউরোপ । চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞান ।

খবরটা প্রথম শুনলাম ডয়চে ভেলের বিশ্বসংবাদে ।ইউরোপে নতুন এক ধরনের রোগের প্রাদুর্ভাব ঘটেছে ইকোলাই নামক ব্যাক্টিরিয়ার কারণে । তাও আবার কৃষিজ কাঁচা সব্জি থেকেই এর উৎপত্তির সম্ভবনা । ইউরোপের চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞান  তাই বলছে । তা খবরটা শুনে আমার বেশ মন খারাপ হয়ে গেল । কৃষিজ খাবারেই যদি এমন রোগের উৎপত্তি হয় তাহলে এর প্রাদুর্ভাব বাড়তে থাকলে কী ভয়াবহ পরিণতি হতে পারে তা ভেবেই আমার মনটা খুব খারাপ হয়েগেছিল । আমি ডয়চে ভেলেকে ই-মেল-এ সে কথা জানালাম । তাদের অনুষ্ঠানে সে কথা বললেন ও ওয়েবসাইটে চিঠিটি প্রকাশও করলেন । সেটি এইরকমঃ


প্রিয় ডয়চে ভেলে বিশ্বপরিবেশ দিবসে রইল শুভেচ্ছা৷ পৃথিবী সব আতঙ্ক কাটিয়ে বৃ্দ্ধি করবে তার সৌন্দর্য৷ নিয়মিত পডকাস্ট শুনছি, ওয়েবসাইট-এ পড়ছি প্রতিবেদন৷ জার্মানিতে ই-কোলাই আতঙ্ক প্রতিবেদনটি পড়ে বেশ মন খারাপ হয়ে গেল৷ সকালের প্রতিবেদনেও শুনলাম এর ভয়াবহতা৷ আক্রান্ত ও মৃতের সংখ্যা বাড়ছেই৷ আশাকরি চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞান দ্রুত এর সমাধানসূত্র বের করতে সক্ষম হবে৷  ভালো থাকুন সকলে৷ সৌমিত্র রায়, ভারত৷


বিষয়টির দিকে নজর রেখে দেখছি । এখনও পরযন্ত এর সহজ সমাধানে  চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞান তেমন বড় সাফল্য পাচ্ছে না ।  ভাবছি । মানুষ প্রতিনিয়ত কতরকম সমস্যার সম্মুখিন হয় । ক খ নো একা একা । ক খনোবা একসাথে অনেকে এসব অশুভশক্তির বিরুদ্ধে লড়ে বেঁচে থাকাটাই হয়তো জীবনের অন্যতম প্রধান কাজ । ৯-৬-১১ সকাল ৭ টা ।
বাংলায় ফিরুন ।      প্রথম পাতায় ফিরুন ।          

শুভেচ্ছা নেবেন ।
আবার নতুন করে ব্লগ শুরু করলাম । আমাদের প্রতিদিনকার জীবনযাপনে নানান খুটিনাটি, ভাবনা  যা অনেকের সাথে ভাগ করে নিতে ইচ্ছে করে । এবার তার একটা দুর্দান্ত সুযোগ এসেছে এই মিশ্রবিষয় বিভাগে । এছাড়াও নির্দিষ্ট আরো তিনটি বিভাগ থাকছে বিষয়ভিত্তিক মতবিনিময় করার । আশাকরি প্রতিটি বিভাগই আমাদের মতবিনিময়ের উপযুক্ত ক্ষেত্র হয়ে উঠবে । সবার প্রতিদিনকার জীবনযাপন সুন্দর হোক । আনন্দে ভরে উঠুক ।
